Canyon bike riders get peace of mind with new Qover insurance partnership

Canyon bike riders get peace of mind with new Qover insurance partnership

6 September 2022
In a nutshell

Global bike manufacturer Canyon has partnered with InsurTech Qover to get riders back on their bike when the worst happens.

Canyon – which specialises in road, mountain, hybrid, triathlon, e-bikes and more – now offers a dedicated insurance package to its customers through Qover’s custom API in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France, with Spain, Portugal, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark and the UK to follow.

At Canyon, we are very much focused on our relationship with the customer, and this integration with Qover only strengthens that,” explained Christian Steyer, Head of Customer Solutions at Canyon. “The customer experience does not end with the bike being delivered to the customer's doorstep, so it’s very important to have a partner that can help us roll out an insurance product globally with one integration.”

This partnership comes at a time when fear of theft continues to be a pressing issue – a survey by anti-theft company AlterLock reports that 80% of respondents across the UK, Germany and the Netherlands are anxious about bike theft – with over half having experienced it in their lifetime.

“Instead of thinking about a bike being stolen or broken down, Qover helps the customer focus on what really matters,” Steyer added.

Qover’s single integration in Canyon’s customer journey means riders can count on a reliable service from the moment they purchase the coverage to when they need it most. And pre-existing customers can buy insurance on Qover's website if their bike is less than a year old.

“There's never a good time to have a problem with your bike. But in the event the worst happens, it’s important to make sure riders can get back on the road as soon as possible,” explained Quentin Colmant, CEO and Co-founder of Qover. “While we can’t always avoid theft, we can make sure people have peace of mind knowing that we’ll be there alongside Canyon when needed.”

About the partnership:

  • Coverage is active 24h/7 day in the case of theft, attempted theft or theft after an assault.

  • Material damage caused by an accident, vandalism, animals or natural elements is insured.
  • Refund of the repair cost, replacement of your bike, fixed accessories, is all included in the damage protection.
  • The towing & transport of the bike, and the rider’s trip home is also covered in Germany, the Netherlands, France and Belgium. Emergency cash is provided in other countries.

'It was a pleasure working with Qover. We love technology and bikes, but we have no insurance experience. It’s a complex matter, especially if you want to scale the product in different countries. Qover helped us define the best product and bring it to our customers.'
